Heating and water heaters
Heating projects start with sizing: a heat-loss calculation for the building, a check of the radiators and piping you have, and then a plan for the boiler, zones and water heaters.
Many Chicago two-flats, greystones and older houses are heated with hot-water radiators fed by a boiler in the basement. When that boiler is replaced, the size and type matter: too big and it short-cycles, too small and the coldest rooms suffer.
We plan heating projects from a heat-loss calculation and an inventory of the existing radiators, then coordinate the installation with the right trades. The plan, the sizing and the parts list are written out so you can see why each choice was made.
What is included
- Heat-loss calculation and boiler sizing
- Radiator and piping inventory
- Zoning plans for multi-unit buildings
- Water-heater replacement planning
- Coordination of plumbing, gas and electrical trades
- Walls and finishes affected by the work
In Chicago-area homes
Older buildings may have had their boiler resized, radiators removed or pipes rerouted over the years. We check what is actually there before choosing equipment.
Gas, venting and boiler work requires the right licensed trades and permits. We confirm the requirements for your city or village and coordinate them.
How it is priced
After a walk-through, you get a written scope with each part of the job priced on its own line. Anything new that turns up is written up as a change order for your approval before it is added, and the invoice follows the scope line by line. How we work

Questions
Do you install the boiler yourselves?
We plan the project, size the equipment and coordinate the installation with the trades your city or village requires for gas, plumbing and electrical work.
Should I switch to a high-efficiency boiler?
It depends on your radiators, piping and the water temperatures your building needs. The sizing work answers that before you choose equipment.
